Royal wedding ahead?
Back in 2015, bookies were taking bets on who Prince Harry would marry.
Ladbrokes was offering odds of 12/1 on the fair haired royal popping the question to English actress and model Cressida Bonas, and 33/1 on the prospect of him rekindling his romance with South African-born lawyer Chelsy Davy.
American actress Meghan Markle didn't get a look in on the list.
Rumours of a budding relationship between Harry and Meghan first started circulating in summer 2016, but it wasn't until November that Harry released an official statement confirming that the pair were dating.
In the same statement the prince asked for privacy, highlighting that online trolls had been targeting Markle with abuse. It said; 'Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.'
In December 2016, the couple were spotted holding hands in public for the first time, after watching The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time on London's West End.
In January 2017, US Weekly reported that the prince and the actress had taken their first vacation together, jetting off to watch the Northern Lights in the Norwegian Fjords.
Then in March, both American and British newspapers revealed that Harry had taken Meghan to a friend's wedding in Jamaica with him, igniting speculation that the prince was getting into the marriage mindset.
On 7th April Meghan shut down her lifestyle blog and a week later she announced that she would be stepping down from her role as model and ambassador for clothing brand Reitmans.
The attention of the world's press has rocketed Meghan into the realms of super stardom. At the end of 2016, Google confirmed that Markle was the most-searched for actress of the year.
However, Meghan was not exactly unknown before she met the prince.
Born on 4th August 1981, Rachel Meghan Markle started her acting career as the 'briefcase girl' on the American version of Deal or No Deal. She played Junior Agent Jessup in the Fox series Fringe before getting a role in movies Get Him To The Greek and Remember Me in 2010.
Her real break came in 2011, however, when she was given the part of paralegal Rachel Zane in the USA network show Suits. She continues to play that role today.
In her personal life, Meghan married American television producer Trevor Engelson in 2011, following an almost seven year relationship. The couple were divorced in August 2013.
Many royal marriage speculators are suggesting that her divorce makes her unsuitable to marry Harry.
